BROWNSTOWN, MI — A Brownstown man has been charged in connection with a bank robbery last week in Flat Rock, according to prosecutors.
Daniel Nathan Labadie, 43, was charged with one count of bank robbery. He was placed in jail with a $25,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 20.
The robbery happened last Wednesday at 9:21 a.m. at the Bank of America located in the 27500 block of Telegraph Road in Flat Rock, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors said Labadie walked into the bank and demanded money from a teller. He then fled the bank.
Officers responded within minutes and quickly set up a perimeter, according to Flat Rock Police.
Officers watched the man, who was carrying a backpack, cross Telegraph Road and head west, according to police.
Police said he walked behind a pizzeria and passed through a hole in a fence between the business and a butcher shop.
Officers approached him in the store's parking lot and ordered him to drop his backpack and get on the ground, police said, adding the man complied and was arrested without incident.
Inside the backpack, officers found clothing that matched what the bank robber was wearing during the incident, a pellet gun and a large amount of money, according to police.
Prosecutors said the man robbed the bank of $8,000.
Police said the man acted alone and that there are no threats to the public.
