Avoid Lines by Renewing Driver's License in Dearborn

Dearborn one of a handful of Michigan cities offering the service to its residents. But that's not all you can do locally.

DEARBORN, MI – Renewing a driver’s license doesn’t have to mean traveling to and standing in line at a Michigan Secretary of State Office.

It can be as easy as going down to the Dearborn Police Department’s Driver’s License Bureau at 16099 Michigan Avenue. Located inside the police station, it’s open from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Drivers may take their written driving exam at the bureau, as well as renew an expiring license or replace a lost license.

The city of Dearborn is one of few cities in Michigan to offer the service to its residents, according to a news release. Call (313) 943-2468 for more information.

The police station also offers other services such as fingerprinting, which is available on a walk-in basis between the hours of 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

If residents are looking to purchase a gun permit and register a gun, service hours are 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Wednesday or Friday 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
