Boy, 16, Dies In Detroit Area Moped Crash: Reports

TAYLOR, MI — A 16-year-old Allen Park High School student died Thursday after a moped crash in Taylor, according to multiple reports citing police.

Police said the boy was riding a moped west on Ecorse Road at 4 p.m. when he crashed into a car that was turning left onto Telegraph Road in Taylor, according to news reports.

The teen, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to news reports.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Police were still investigating the crash.
