Boy Dies in Hot Tub After Social Workers Return Him to Home: Reports
Boy, 2, found face down in scalding hot tub sustained burns on half of his body, police said.

INKSTER, MI – A toddler who died in a Jacuzzi tub of scalding hot water Monday had just been returned to his Inkster family by Child Protective Services workers, authorities said.
Police told WWJ Radio it’s unclear if the 2-year--old boy died maliciously or in a tragic accident, though WXYZ-TV reports his mother is in custody. She called police to the home in the 26000 block of Avondale about 7 pm. Monday after finding the boy face down in the tub in about three inches of water.

About half of the boy’s body was covered with burns, and it’s unclear how long he had been in the water before his mother called authorities, police told WWJ.
Several people were in the home at the time, and police are interviewing them, the radio station said.

The circumstances of the child’s removal from and return to the home by CPS weren’t immediately clear. He reportedly had been home only for a few days before his death.
