BREAKING: Former U.S. Rep John Dingell, 89, Hospitalized

John Dingell, who served in Congress longer than any other politician in history, is "resting comfortably" at Detroit hospital.

Former Congressman John Dingell is back in the hospital and will undergo a heart procedure, his wife, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, D-Dearborn, said in a statement Tuesday.

The 89-year-old former congressman is resting comfortably at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit after being admitted Monday, his wife said.

He was hospitalized with a fractured hip in December as his 59-year tenure in Congress came to an end. At the time of his retirement, he was the longest-serving member of Congress in history.
