Zouher Abdel-Hak for city council

Why are you seeking elective office?

Resident for 29 years, attended city council for 17 years, watched the lack of financial and contractual knowledge of the previous council members which cost the residents more taxes and poor performance in several departments, this pushed me to run for office and give back to my community from the experience which I acquired over the years. This city is my home.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Flood, will work with the administration, county, state and us representatives to secure funds to solve this problem and relief our residents from the pain which they feel every time there is rain.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am very transparent, did not ask anyone for contributions, and refused to accept the thousands offered by relatives and friends.

I want to serve every resident equally, not just the ones who contributed to my campaign. I watched over the years how some politicians treated residents in different ways, and i refuse to be that way. My work history and my contributions to society should be the decisive difference.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

Personal agendas, and personal interest.

How do you think local officials performed in responding to the coronavirus? What if anything would you have done differently?

With what was available to them, they did a good job to protect the public.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

Be truthful with the public.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Chaired a committee to pass $35 million bond for Crestwood school district and passed after 49 years of failure to pass a bond, served on zoning and housing commissions, served as interim treasurer and served since Jan. 26 on city council, business owner for 26 years, managed $166 Million project for major corporation.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

Follow your conscious and do what you believe is right.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I will honor my oath of office, and will put the public interest above any special interest.
