'Care to the Core' Tackles Bullying in Dearborn Schools

Rally Nov. 3 at Ford Community and Performing Arts Theater

(Originally posted Oct. 19, 2016) DEARBORN, MI - The "Care to the Core Rally" on Nov. 3 aims to help students from elementary through high school deal with feelings in positive ways in order to prevent bullying. Through music, stories and songs, the annual city-wide event will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Michael A. Guido Theater at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave., the Dearborn Press and Guide reports.

“The acts in the Care to the Core Rally will center around the different emotions we feel when we take actions that create a positive school environment,” Supt. Glenn Maleyko said.

“The goal is to make a better school environment where all students will succeed. We do this through our behavior as well as by introducing beneficial programs such as PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports), Restorative Practices, Leader in Me, STAND (Students Taking a New Direction) and Peer Mediation.” The rally will include raffle prizes, performances, music, a team building activity, school and local celebrities and an anti-bullying pledge.
