Child Struggling in School? Parent Talk Classes Can Help
Dearborn Public School are offering sessions aimed at increasing achievement and reducing disciplinary issues.

DEARBORN, MI – Parents of students who attend Dearborn Public Schools who are interested in learning communication skills to help their children increase achievement or reduce discipline issues are invited to attend free, evening Parent Talk sessions this winter.

“The classes focus on helping parents positively impact the social and emotional development of children and family members,” District Parent Involvement Educator Margaret Ahmed-King, the class instructor, said in a news release. “Parents will learn practical skills that empower and encourage responsible behaviors, self-motivation and character development.”

Parent Talk classes will be held 5:30-7 p.m. in Room 25 at the Dearborn Public Schools Administrative Service Center, 18700 Audette, on the following Tuesdays:Jan. 12, 19 and 26; and Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23, followed by graduation on March 1.
A certificate of completion is awarded to participants who complete the course.

Classes are free; however, registration is required. Interested parents should email Margaret Ahmed-King at ahmedm@dearbornschools.org or call (313) 827-8788 and provide their names, phone number and choice of either an English or Arabic workbook.
