Filling out the U.S. Census helps Dearborn and all communities in many ways. It helps determine the amount of federal funds that are distributed for important social services, public safety, libraries, roads and bridges.
Each person counted is said to represent $3,000 a year in federal funding, or $30,000 over the next 10 years until the 2030 Census. It also determines the number of Congress members that Michigan and all states are allocated.
Individual household answers are kept confidential by law.
