Partnering with Volunteers of America, 96.3 WDVD and Fox 2 Detroit, Co-op Services is collecting new backpacks, folders, notebooks, pens, scissors, pencils and other supplies at donation boxes in the credit union’s eight branch offices located throughout metro Detroit.

The donations will be distributed through Volunteers of America and its Operation Backpack initiative. Last year Volunteers of America Michigan distributed 1,200 new backpacks filled with grade appropriate supplies to low-income children in local communities.
“We want to help them exceed that number this year,” said Jeremy Cybulski, youth and community development coordinator for Co-op Services Credit Union. “Working with schools through our student credit unions and financial literacy programs, we recognize the tremendous need that’s out there for many children to be able to return to school with the supplies they need to start the year.”
