Dearborn City Council Head in Contentious Judgeship Race Threatened

Brick with threatening note thrown through Susan Dabaja's office window.

(Originally published on Oct. 21) DEARBORN, MI — City Council President Susan Dabaja, who is locked in a controversial race for a 19th District Court with Dearborn attorney Gene Hunt, told police that a brick with a threatening note was thrown threw her window, the Dearborn Press & Guide, reported.

A note was attached that called her by a slur and told her she belonged "at home."

"You are not wanted in our city," the note said. "Drop out or leave.”

“It is shameful that the political rhetoric is so visceral that it emboldens some to think they can commit criminal acts,” Dabaja told the Press & Guide. “Irrespective of outcome and obstacles placed before me, I will continue to represent this great city with honor and dignity.”
