Dearborn Dental Manager Charged In Medicaid Fraud Scheme: AG

DEARBORN, MI — A Dearborn dental manager is facing more than a dozen charges after scamming Medicaid, according to the Michigan Attorney General's Office.

Lina Abraham, 41, of Dearborn, has been charged with one count of conducting a criminal enterprise and 14 counts of Medicaid fraud.

Her next court date is scheduled for Oct. 2. She faces up to 20 years in prison for conducting a criminal enterprise and up to four years for each count of Medicaid fraud.

As manager of Dearborn Family Smiles, officials said Abraham repeatedly billed Medicaid for dental crowns that were never provided to patients.

She filed the claims under her employing clinic’s former name, Artistic Dentistry, officials said.

Officials do not believe any other workers associated with the dental clinic were involved in the scheme.

"Medicaid provides access to health care for millions of Americans," Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said. "It is a vital resource for family health all across Michigan, and my office is specifically entrusted to defend the state and federal program from fraud."
