DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn Fire Chief Joseph Murray was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving drunk, multiple reports said.

The chief was stopped by officers in the area of Telegraph Road and Dartmouth Street in Dearborn Heights around 3 a.m. while he was driving 15 miles per hour over the speed limit and weaving in the road, reports said.

The city did not detail the situation involving Murray, but officials vowed to take the "appropriate course" of action.

"Earlier this morning, the administration was notified of an incident involving our fire chief," Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud said. "We are taking this matter seriously. As facts become known, we will take the appropriate course of action."
