Dearborn Fire Chief Back On Job After Drunken Driving Allegation: Reports

Dearborn's fire chief​ is back at work after he was arrested​ on suspicion of drunk driving in August, according to multiple reports.

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn’s fire chief is back at work after he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in August, according to multiple reports.

Fire Chief Joseph Murray was placed on administrative leave following the incident, as Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud vowed appropriate action once more facts became available.

Wayne County Prosecutors were still reviewing a warrant to determine if charges will be filed against Murray in connection to the drunk driving incident, according to a Detroit Metro Times report.

The chief was stopped by officers on Aug. 29 in the area of Telegraph Road and Dartmouth Street in Dearborn Heights around 3 a.m. while he was driving 15 miles per hour over the speed limit and weaving in the road, reports said.

Murray oversees more than 125 firefighters who work out of five fire stations.
