Dearborn Firefighters Extinguish Blaze At Small Market: Officials

DEARBORN, MI — Firefighters battled an overnight fire at a small grocery store in Dearborn, according to fire officials.

Socotra Market, located at 10425 West Warren Ave and known for its Middle Eastern and international foods, caught fire at midnight Thursday, according to officials.

The blaze destroyed everything inside the market, but there were no injuries, according to officials.

"Our guys did a very good job of stopping this before it spread to other buildings," Dearborn Fire Chief Joseph Murray told Fox 2 Detroit. "A fire doubles in size every 30 seconds, that's why response time is so important."

The blaze destroyed much of the building's structure, but officials do not yet know if crews need to demolish the building.

Officials were still investigating the cause of the fire.
