Dearborn Heights Man Dies After Getting Pinned Under Dump Truck: Police
Police said the man was driving the dump truck when he noticed mechanical difficulties with one of the truck's lift axles.
BIRMINGHAM, MI — A 57-year-old Dearborn Heights man died last Friday after he became pinned under a construction truck, according to police.
The incident happened at 12:07 p.m. in the 800 block of Redding Street, near Woodward and Quarton in Birmingham, according to police.
Police said the man was driving the dump truck when he noticed mechanical difficulties with one of the truck's lift axles.

The man pulled over to the side of the road to diagnose the problem and became trapped under the truck when the system re-engaged, according to police.
Police did not release the man's name.

"The Birmingham Police Department is deeply saddened by this tragic incident," the department said in a statement. "The department sends its deepest sympathies to the victim's family."
