Dearborn Heights Towers Among 26 Sites to Get Network Upgrades

Capacity and speed enhancements made to AT&T's local mobile network.

AT&T is increasing network speeds and capacity as the telecom continues to densify its wireless network through the deployment of small cells and the use of advanced network technologies like carrier aggregation.

Three towers in Dearborn Heights are the beneficiaries of recent enhancements to boost speed. Also in Wayne County, upgrades were made in Detroit, Plymouth and Livonia.

Oak Park, Farmington Hills, Birmingham and Ypsilanti are among the other communities getting network improvements on 26 sites in southeast Michigan.

These upgrades are like adding more lanes to a highway carrying traffic from a customer’s device to the cell tower, resulting in faster speeds.

“Our Michigan employees are focused on bringing a better mobile experience to southeast Michigan and across the state. Our investment in the local wireless network is one way we’re accomplishing that,” said Jim Murray, president, AT&T Michigan.
