Officers Find Shell Casing Inside Dearborn High School: Police

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn High School was thrown into a soft lockdown Tuesday morning after officers found a shell casing inside the building, according to police.

The lockdown was lifted after police determined there are no immediate threats to the school, its students and staff and the surrounding community.

Investigators determined this to be an isolated incident and were still looking into the source of the shell casing.

"We thank our partner agencies for immediately providing crucial resources and coordination to assist in our investigation, and for Dearborn School District officials for their work in securing a soft lockdown. After a thorough sweep and investigation, we can report no immediate threats to the school and surrounding community. The Dearborn Police Department continues to vigilantly monitor the situation," Dearborn Chief of Police Issa Shahin said.
