Dearborn Hills Golf Course Reopening This Spring
The golf course was closed for the entire 2022 season after heavy rain the previous year caused catastrophic flooding.
DEARBORN, MI — Part of the Dearborn Hills Golf Course will reopen this spring, officials announced Thursday.
Officials will only reopen the back nine holes of the course, as part of the course is still recovering from flood damage. Crews are also still working to prevent future logjams along the Rouge River.
"We still have logjam mitigation work to do along the river on the west side of Telegraph to prevent—as best we can—the catastrophic flood damage of these last few years," Dearborn Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud said.

The entire course was closed during the 2022 season to allow the grounds to recover and heal from the unprecedented flooding caused by heavy rain in the summer of 2021.
The flooding was further exacerbated by logjams on the Rouge River, most of which were well west of the course and further up-river.

The course will hold nine-hole leagues and causal golf outings, officials said.
Long-time Dearborn resident Robert Herndon built and opened the course in 1923. When he died in 1986, he turned over the course to city officials, who renovated and expanded the course in 1991.
"We are pleased to announce the reopening of the Dearborn Hills golf course, and acknowledge its legacy and importance to local recreation," Hammoud said.
