Dearborn Mail Carrier Robbed At Gunpoint, $50K Offered For Tips: Feds

DEARBORN, MI — The United States Postal Inspection Service is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of a man they said robbed a mail carrier in Dearborn at gunpoint.

Officials said a man approached the mail carrier from behind with a gun and demanded postal boxes on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Pardee Avenue and Penn Street.

After committing the robbery, officials said the robber got into a gray Dodge Charger that fled east on Penn Street.

Officials described the robber as a man in his late 30s or early 40s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, around 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored coat and a light gray ski mask during the robbery.

The firearm was described as a semi-automatic gun, possibly gray with a black grip, officials said.

No further details were release by officials to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Officials warned the public not to approach or try to apprehend the suspect.
