Dearborn Man Facing Federal Child Porn Charges for Video Chats: Complaint

When suspect learned victim was 13 instead of 18, he said "if you like someone, and it's real, age doesn't matter," according to complaint.

DEARBORN, MI — A Dearborn man enticed a 13-year-old New Jersey girl into sending him nude and sexually explicit images over a video sharing site, investigators said in a 12-page complaint filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Detroit.

Randy Montante is charged with producing child pornography, receiving child pornography and enticing a minor after federal agents obtained a search warrant for his electronic devices and a flash drive that contained multiple images and videos of children engaged in sexual activity, according to media reports.

The investigation began when girl’s mother notified the Bayonne, NJ, Police Department that her daughter had been involved in an online relationship with Montante, who is in his 20s, since about February.

The victim initially said she was 18, but Montante didn’t cease contact with her when she revealed her true age, according to reports on WXYZ-TV and WDIV-TV. An undercover detective posing as the victim made clear the victim’s age, according to the complaint, but Montante responded:

“A good friend of mine said if you like someone, and it’s real, age doesn’t matter.”
