Dearborn Officer's Child, 2, Accidentally Fatally Shoots Self: Reports
A 2-year-old child died Sunday in an accidental shooting inside a Livingston County home, police said.

DEARBORN, MI — A 2-year-old toddler who died in an accidental shooting Sunday inside a Howell home was the child of a veteran Dearborn police officer, according to multiple reports, citing Dearborn Police.
Police said the toddler found an unsecured gun and was accidentally shot at the home in the 1900 block of Oak Squire Lane at around 6 p.m.
Officials took the child to a nearby hospital, where the 2-year-old died, police said.

Dearborn Police called the incident a very serious personal family matter and said the department would review the officer's job status if charges were filed in the case, reports said.
