Dearborn Police Need Help Finding Vehicle, Driver In Hit-And-Run

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn Police are asking the public for help in finding a vehicle and its driver who critically injured a local resident in a Dearborn hit-and-run, Dearborn Police said.

A local pedestrian was struck by the dark-colored SUV while crossing northbound Michigan Avenue near Outer Drive on Sept. 16 at 9 a.m., police said.

The victim was still recovering Friday from serious injuries, police said.

Investigators captured the SUV driving away from the crash on nearby surveillance videos. Police believe the SUV has front-end damage as a result from the crash.

"This is yet another unfortunate traffic incident that nearly took a teenager’s life," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said. "It is important that drivers always exercise caution while operating a motor vehicle."
