Dearborn Police Officer Suspended After Domestic Dispute: Report

A Dearborn police officer was suspended after he was arrested in connection to a domestic dispute​, according to a report.

DEARBORN, MI — A Dearborn police officer was suspended after he was arrested in connection to a domestic dispute, according to a WXYZ report.

Dearborn Police Cpl. Walter Anhut, who also serves as president of the city’s police union, was arrested at his house in Huron Township on Jan. 28 after he assaulted his wife during an argument, the report said, citing police.

"He slammed the door in my face three different times, and then he pulled me out of the car and twisted my arm so hard I can’t move it, it feels like it’s broken," Anhut's wife told a police dispatcher.

No charges were ever filed against Anhut, but the Dearborn Police Department said it investigated the incident.

"After being notified of this incident involving an off-duty officer, the Dearborn Police Department promptly opened an investigation into the incident," the department said in a statement. "At the conclusion of the investigation, the officer was suspended in accordance with our disciplinary and professional conduct policies. We expect officers to uphold our high standards of professional conduct at all times."

The length of the suspension wasn't reveled, but Anhut has returned to work, according to the report.
