Dearborn Police SUV Hits Car Without Lights On, 2 Injuries: Cops

Dearborn Police said both drivers suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.

DEARBORN, MI — A Dearborn patrol SUV crashed into another vehicle Sunday afternoon without its emergency lights on while in route to a scene, Dearborn Police said.

Police said the officer was driving to a scene of a reported vehicle break-in when the officer crashed into a civilian vehicle on the 7700 block of Kendal Street in Dearborn.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash, police said.

Police said the officer did not activate the patrol SUV's emergency lights before entering the intersection and did not yield to oncoming traffic.

"We are grateful that both drivers are safe and we have initiated an internal process to review and correct the action," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said.
