Dearborn Ranked Among Best 'Zoom Towns' In U.S.: Study

The study looked at the number of remote workers, housing growth and cost of living to rank the best "zoom towns" in the nation.

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn was picked as one of the best "zoom towns" in the United States, according to a SmartAsset study.

Dearborn was ranked the tenth best "zoom town," which the study defines as remote workers who moved out of the big cities to its more affordable suburban neighborhoods.

The study showed the number of remote workers in Dearborn grew to 21.6 percent of the working population between 2019 and 2021, a 20 percent jump.

In addition to the number of remote workers, the study also analyzed housing growth and cost of living.

The number of housing units in Dearborn grew 14.1 percent between 2019 and 2021, according to the study.

Although housing made up for an average of 19.8 percent of the worker's salary, the study noted Dearborn offers cheaper housing than Detroit.

On the flip side, however, the study showed Dearborn was among the leaders in power outages, with an outage lasting a staggering average of 178.6 minutes.
