Dearborn Resident, Minister Rev. G. Richard Danielak Dies at 80

As both a priest and a minister, Danielak dedicated his life to serving God and the community.

Dearborn resident, minister and former priest Rev. G. Richard Danielak died Thursday, July 7. He was 80. Danielak was formerly a minister with the . 

Born April 30, 1931, in Hamtramck, Danielak found his calling early in life, and at age 14, began studying at a seminary. He was ordained into the priesthood in 1959, and served 21 years as a Roman Catholic priest.  

While Danielak’s life was dedicated to his calling, he said the highlight of his life was being married to “my Rosie.”  And it was after his marriage to Rose in 1980 that he became a Presbyterian minister.

In addition to the Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church, Danielak served at churches in Whiting, Ind., Xenia, Ohio, Dayton, Ohio, Sanford, Fla., Detroit and Livonia. He also served as a hospital chaplain in Lima, Ohio. 

Danielak is survived by his wife, Rose; his brother Charles; two sisters, Donna (Woody) Price and Lori Linkewitz. His parents, Walter and Ada Danielak, predeceased him in 1986 and 2006, respectively.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, July 11, from 3-9 p.m. at the Dearborn Chapel of the, 22546 Michigan Ave. A funeral mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, at , 5275 Kenilworth, in Dearborn, with instate at 9 a.m. A memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Cherry Hill United Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
