Dearborn Seniors Can Attend School Events For Free
The discount card includes most school-sponsored activities, such as concerts and athletic events.
DEARBORN, MI — The Dearborn Public School District said Thursday it is are offering Dearborn residents over the age of 60 a Premier Citizen Discount Card, which would allow them to attend many public school programs for free.
The discount card is free and can be picked up at any Dearborn Public School or the administration building. The district also extended cards that were set to expire in September 2021 for another year, according to a news release.
The discount card offers discounts on school activities and school merchandise including:

- Free admission to most school-sponsored activities including concerts and athletic events. Discounted tickets are available for plays, which are not free because schools must pay for performance licenses.
- Discounts on select Community Education classes.
- 10% discount on merchandise sold at school stores. (Limit four items per year.)

"Many local residents in the over 60 crowd are Dearborn Public Schools alumni, parents of former students or grandparents to current students," Superintendent Glenn Maleyko said. "With the Premier Citizen Discount Card, senior residents can enjoy discounts or free admission to school programs, including musical performances and sporting events."

The district did not offer the discount cards last school year, because schools held fewer public events with limited attendance.
As of Friday, there is no limit on attendance at sporting events. But those attending indoor events must wear face masks inside the buildings under current rules.
