Dearborn Teacher On Leave For Alleged Racist Remarks To Student

The Stout Middle School teacher reportedly asked a Muslim student if she was even American, among other remarks, according to reports.

DEARBORN, MI — A teacher at Stout Middle School in Dearborn is on leave and being investigated after he allegedly made racist remarks to a Muslim student, reports say.

The eighth-grade girl said the teacher made remarks that she and other students should take showers because they "stink" and later asked if she was American and why she doesn't go back to her country, WDIV reported.

According to the report, both the girl and her mother were born in America. One advocate told WDIV it might be a bias because the girl wears a scarf.
