DEL TACO CELEBRATES CINCO DE MAYO WITH THIRD ANNUAL EPIC BURRITO CHALLENGE

Del Taco, a leader in the fast-service authentic Mexican restaurant industry, announced today it will bring back its local fan favorite Epic Burrito Challenge for a third consecutive year on Thursday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at its Dearborn Heights restaurant in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
Launched back in 2014 to offer local residents an engaging and unique Cinco de Mayo festivity, those interested in participating in the 2016 Epic Burrito Challenge can register at the Dearborn Heights Del Taco restaurant, located at 5644 Telegraph Road, from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. on May 5. The first 10 participants to register for the competition will be tasked with the challenge of eating two of Del Taco’s signature one-pound Epic Burritos within 15 minutes. The first individual to finish both of the Epic Burritos, or the person who eats the most within 15 minutes, will receive one free Del Taco Epic Burrito per week for one year. The second place winner will receive a catering package for up to 20 people from Del Taco and third place will receive one free meal of their choice. In addition, each participant will receive a special Del Taco t-shirt that, when worn into any Del Taco restaurant, will allow them to receive 25 percent off their order.
“Our Epic Burrito Challenge has proven to be a fun and unique way for us to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Del Taco’s tradition of serving authentic, fresh Mexican cuisine with our customers who have supported us throughout the last 11 years,” said Barb Pasciak, local franchise marketing director of Del Taco. “A signature event for us for the past three years, we look forward to hosting yet another fun, exciting and friendly competition that participants and spectators are sure to enjoy.”
Recognized for its made-to-order menu items created with freshly prepared ingredients at an unbelievable value, Del Taco’s Epic Burritos do not disappoint. Varieties include:
· Epic Grilled Chicken Avocado Burrito: The Epic Grilled Chicken Avocado Burrito is loaded with fresh hand-sliced avocado, chicken that is grilled fresh in-house, handmade pico de gallo salsa, salsa casera, fresca lime rice, and seasoned black beans.
· Epic Steak & Potato Burrito: Featuring freshly-grilled carne asada steak, Del Taco’s famous Crinkle-Cut fries, chipotle sauce, bacon, freshly-grated cheddar cheese and sour cream.
· Epic Chicken Chipotle Ranch Burrito: This entrée includes marinated chicken grilled fresh in each Del Taco restaurant all day, along with lime rice, chipotle and ranch sauces, bacon, freshly-grated cheddar cheese, crisp lettuce, guacamole and hand-made pico de gallo salsa.
In addition to the Epic Burrito Challenge, all metro Detroit Del Taco restaurants, including Dearborn Heights, Livonia, Roseville, Clawson and Warren, will be offering $.59 cent value tacos and $1 Del Tacos on Cinco de Mayo from 4 p.m.-9 p.m.
