Divine Child Cheer Places Second in State Championships
The team took second to Gibraltar Carlson at the Division 2 finals Saturday.
It was a repeat of last year for 's varsity cheer team at Division 2 state finals on Saturday.
The girls took home second place, falling just short of the team that won the state championship in 2011–Gibraltar Carlson.
DC's cheer squad competed in the state finals Saturday at the Grand Rapids Deltaplex. With a final score of 804.4592 (233.1, 252.3592, 319), the team came up less than three points short of Carlson's win.

Overall, it was a successful season for the No. 2 ranked DC cheer team.
The girls took home the Detroit Catholic High School League title, and finished first or second in all of their events except one, according to the Michigan High School Athletic Association.

Additionally, senior Kendall McCausland made the all-state second team last season, while seniors Alexa Zakarian and Shae Lawson earned honorable mentions.
