Elderly Woman Hit, Killed By Car In Dearborn: Police

Police said the 82-year-old woman was struck by a black Ford Focus at 6:30 a.m. while crossing Warren Avenue near Freda Street.

DEARBORN, MI — An elderly woman was fatally hit by a car Tuesday morning while crossing a Dearborn road, police said.

Police said the 82-year-old woman was struck by a black Ford Focus at 6:30 a.m. while crossing Warren Avenue near Freda Street.

The elderly woman was taken to Corewell Hospital-Dearborn where she died, police said.

The driver of the focus, a 35-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was cooperating with officers, police said.

The man was not injured in the crash, police said.

Police do not believe speed and alcohol contributed to the crash. Officials were still investigating the crash and asked anyone with information about the accident to call the Dearborn Police Department at 313-943-2279.

"This is a terrible tragedy and the Dearborn Police Department offers its sincere condolences to the family of the victim," Dearborn Chief of Police Issa Shahin said. "While our investigation is continuing it appears at this time that speed and alcohol were not a factor."
