"Carmina Burana," opera favorites to be presented at the annual spring finale in Dearborn's Michael A. Guido Theater.

DEARBORN, MI – The Dearborn Elementary Honors Choir will be featured in the opening selection in the Vanguard Voices spring concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at the Michael A. Guido Theater.

The school children, accompanied by Vanguard Brass & Percussion Ensemble, will open the concert in the performance of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana.”

Vanguard Voices will also present works by two famous choral composers — John Rutter’s “Cantate Domino” and Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia.”

The 75-voice chorus will be joined by baritone Quinto Milito for a selection of opera arias and choruses by Bizet, Mascagni, Mozart, Puccini, Rossini, and Verdi.

“Between ‘Carmina Burana’ and the opera selections, this promises to be a very dramatic and exciting program,” Vanguard Voices artistic director G. Kevin Dewey said in a news release. “We’re also thrilled to share the stage with Quinto Milito, so well-known to opera aficionados.”
