Free Music Summer Begins with Dearborn Big Band
Next free west downtown concert is July 8, east downtown jazz concert series kicks off July 13, and Music Under the Stars begins July 14.
Dearborn, MI — Free outdoor concerts are underway in Dearborn’s west downtown business district, with alternative artist Jody Raffoul performing Friday, July 8.
On July 13, Dearborn’s east downtown jazz series will start, and on the following day, July 14, “Music Under the Stars” returns for its 37th season. This means the stage is set once again for a rollicking good time in Dearborn this summer.
The west downtown concerts take place in the parking lot behind the Bryant Library, 22100 Michigan Ave., between Mason and Howard streets. They are continuing for the first and third Fridays in July and August. They begin at 5 p.m. and run until 9 p.m.

The remaining performances are:
- July 8: Jody Raffoul (Rock, Classic Rock, Alternative)
- July 22: The Muggs (Blues Rock)
- August 12: The Wrenfields (Rock, Alternative Country)
- August 26: The Beat Club (Beatles Tribute)
New this year is a Beer Garden featuring a variety of craft beers for $5.

Downtown east Dearborn will begin its signature concert series on Wednesday, July 13, with the first 2016 Jazz on the Ave event, sponsored by Beaumont Health.
These concerts are at Historic City Hall Park, 13615 Michigan Ave., at the corner of Schaefer.
Concerts are 7 to 9 pm., rain or shine.
The following is the 2016 schedule:
- July 13: Alexander Zonjic & Friends with special guest Joey Sommerville
- July 20: Demetrius “Krayon” Nabors with special guest Brandon Rose
- July 27: Rayse Biggs
- August 3: Nick Colionne
- August 10: Gregg Karukas
- August 17: Alexander Zonjic with special guest Steve Cole
Back for the 37th year is “Music Under the Stars.” The free concerts, hosted by the Dearborn Recreation and Parks Department, take place Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m.
The Dearborn Big Band leads the series on July 14 at Dearborn Hills Golf Course, 1300 S. Telegraph Road.
On Aug. 11, The Beat Club Beatles tribute band comes to the Dunworth Pool Deck at Dearborn’s Levagood Park. The pool will be open free of charge during the concert.
Wrapping up the series on Aug. 25 at Dearborn Hills Golf Course is classic rock cover band The Phoenix Theory.
