Garden City HS Was In Lockdown After Threat: Report

The school district's Superintendent said the lockdown went into effect after a threatening message was air-dropped to phones.

GARDEN CITY, MI — Garden City High School was on lockdown Wednesday morning after a "shooting related" messaged was air-dropped to student's phones, according to a report from WWJ News.

Garden City Public Schools Superintendent Derek Fisher told the news station the lockdown was "out of an abundance of caution."

He also told the Detroit News "everyone is safe," and that '(The threat of violence)' wasn't posted on social media but rather Air Dropped from an Apple device within the building."

Apple's Air Drop function is an instant messaging program that sends texts, pictures and other information to Apple devices in a certain radius.

Police are investigating the message and which device it came from, according to the report.
