Guess Who Turned on Dearborn's Christmas Lights

Each year, the mayor selects a special assistant to help light the tree at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Series.

The City of Dearborn signaled the beginning of the Christmas holiday season with the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center on Monday, Dec. 8. Each year Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr. invites a special guest to be the honorary assistant. Five-year-old Nagi Nasser, kindergartener from Lowrey School, helped light the tree this year. Mayor O’Reilly presented him with the gift of a dinosaur toy to thank him for his role in the community event. Shown here are (from left): Mayor O’Reilly; Nagi Nasser; his father, Khaled Nasser; and Lowrey teacher Karen Slack. Accompanying Nagi but not pictured, were his siblings Eman, Aymen and Omar and his mother, Nawal Nasser. (Photo courtesy of city of Dearborn)
