Man, 81, Dies After Being Hit By Car In Dearborn: Police

DEARBORN, MI — An elderly man died Wednesday after he was struck by a car in Dearborn, according to police.

Police said the 81-year-old man was walking on Beech Street near Monroe Street at 5:26 p.m. when he was struck by a car.

The elderly man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.

The driver who struck the elderly man stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

Investigators do not believe alcohol and drugs played a role in the crash.

Police were still investigating the crash.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the individual who tragically lost his life. All Dearbornites deserve to feel safe on our city streets. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and prioritize safety first when walking, biking, and driving in Dearborn," Dearborn Chief of Police Issa Shahin said.
