DEARBORN, MI — A man pleaded guilty in connection to the 2020 killing of a 93-year-old Dearborn woman, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said.
Chantry Rice pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder with a sentence agreement of 20-38 years in prison in connection to the July 21, 2020 death of Maxine Callaghan. He was originally charged with felony murder in connection to the killing. He will be sentenced on June 8.
Officials determined Rice broke into Callaghan's home and fatally hit her in the head. He then stole pearls, earrings, a necklace and other items before running away from the home, officials said.
