Man Caught Trying To Meet Teen Girl For Sex In Oakland Co.: Police
A Dearborn Heights man was arrested last Thursday after he planned to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex in Waterford, police said.

WATERFORD, MI — A Dearborn Heights man was arrested last Thursday after he planned to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex in Waterford, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
Steven James Stec, 37, was charged with child sexually abuse material and using a computer to commit a crime. Both charges are 20-year felonies. He was placed in jail but released after posting a $5,000 bond (10 percent of $50,000). His next court date is set for May 2.
"Any sex predator who seeks to target children will be targeted by our special investigation unit and brought to the bar of justice," Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "We will do all in our power to protect children and hold predators to account."

Police said Stec went to a Waterford location at 10:30 p.m. on April 13 to meet up with a 15-year-old girl for sex. Instead, he found undercover officers, who arrested him, the sheriff's office said.
Stec is the most recent person arrested by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, which is targeting sexual predators who attempt to prey on children. Twelve men have been arrested in six stings in the past 10 months, the sheriff's office said.

In each instance, the defendant communicated online with a person he believed to be a female juvenile interested in having sex but was an undercover police officer.
