March 18 Message From Dearbon Mayor O’Reilly
"We must continue to remain calm and make smart decisions informed by credible sources."
"As your Mayor, I want to assure you that we’ve been monitoring the ever-changing news about the spread of COVID-19 in our city and state, and making decisions we believe to be in the best interest of our community and those we serve.
These are unprecedented times and the information about COVID-19 and its progression changes by the hour. Despite the anxiety and frustration, this causes, we must continue to remain calm and make smart decisions informed by credible sources like the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The one constant message is that we all must play a role in slowing the transmission of this virus.

The City has been proactive in pursuing that goal through small as well as unprecedented measures such as closing facilities to the public for the time being and creating a dedicated webpage at www.cityofdearborn/covid19. These measures will help protect the safety and well-being of our community, employees, and visitors. We ask for your patience and understanding as you deal with any inconveniences this may cause.
I would like to recognize the dedicated employees of the City of Dearborn, especially those who are working to provide services to the community while most of the city and our businesses are closed to the public. They are showing their true commitment to public service and it is greatly appreciated.

While we don’t know the ultimate impact COVID-19 will have on our community, we do know that we have weathered circumstances beyond our control in the past and have come out of those experiences stronger and more united. I’m confident that this event will be no different and, in time, life as we know it will return to normal. Until then, I will continue to make every effort to keep us as safe as possible and rely on you to do the same.
Take care, stay healthy, but most of all, protect and care for the ones you love and your neighbors."
