Missing Metro Detroit Teen Found Safe, Father Arrested: Reports

Police said the teen was kidnapped by his father last Sunday outside a metro Detroit McDonald's.

RIVER ROUGE, MI — A 13-year-old River Rouge boy, who was kidnapped by his father last Sunday, was found safe in Kentucky, according to reports.

Officers found the teen with his father during a traffic stop in Berea, Kentucky, according to reports.

His father, 58-year-old Christopher Allan Brown, was arrested and a warrant request was sent to the Wayne County Prosecutor, according to reports.

Police said the teen, Christopher Brown Jr., who suffers from a cognitive disorder, was not injured and is undergoing an evaluation by medical professionals, according to reports.

Prior to being found, the teen was last seen at 10:07 a.m. Sunday morning at a McDonald's restaurant at 10995 West Jefferson Ave. in River Rouge, according to police.

He was seen chaining his bicycle to a bike rack outside the restaurant before going inside for roughly a minute, according to police.

After leaving the restaurant, he got into the front passenger seat of a dark-color Chevy Tahoe with a Florida plate DSM1544, which was registered to his dad, according to police.

Brown had his parental rights terminated in August 2024 due to a child abuse incident involving another child, according to police.

Police believed the teen was in immediate danger.

The teen had been in the care of his 32-year-old brother after their mother died earlier this year, according to police.

Police said the brothers do not have the same father.
