Multiple people were injured and five people were arrested after a Dearborn crash Monday, police said.
DEARBORN, MI — Multiple people were injured and five people were arrested after a Dearborn crash Monday, police said.
Dearborn Heights Police said officers tried stopping a stolen vehicle on eastbound Michigan Avenue and Outer Drive.
The driver in the stolen vehicle sped away from officers and turned north onto Oakwood Boulevard, smashing into two other vehicles, police said.

The people in those vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, officials said.
Two of the five people inside the stolen vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officers also found a loaded 9 mm handgun with an extended magazine and a Taser inside the stolen vehicle, police said.
Police said the people inside the stolen vehicle were between 15 and 18 years old and live in Michigan and North Dakota. Officials did not identify the other people injured in the crash.
No further details were released by police.
"Like many communities, we are experiencing a spike in motor vehicle thefts, and our residents are understandably frustrated," said Dearborn Heights Police Chief Jerrod Hart. "The thefts negatively impact our residents’ quality of life and ability to earn a living."
