Obama to Visit Detroit Auto Show
The visit will be Obama's first as president; he's also expected to tout auto industry's comeback in his State of the Union address Tuesday.

DETROIT, MI – President Obama, whose first-term bailout of the auto industry is credited by some as saving the U.S. auto industry from financial ruin, plans to visit the North American International Auto show in Detroit later this month.
White House spokesman Keith Maley told the Detroit Free Press Friday that Obama will attend the show on Jan. 20. The show runs Jan. 11-24.

The White House didn’t release details about Obama’s trip to the Motor City, but Maley said the president is also coming “to experience firsthand the remarkable progress made by the city, its people and neighborhoods.”
In his final State of the Union address Tuesday, Obama is expected to hold up Detroit’s comeback — U.S. auto sales reached record levels in 2015 — as one of the greatest accomplishments of his presidency, USA TODAY said.
