“Prostitution is a serious crime that comes with equally serious consequences,” Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said in a statement, calling Green’s conviction “one step forward in providing justice for the victims in this case and toward eradicating this crime from our communities.”

All five of the offenses for which Green was sentenced normally carry a 20-year maximum sentence. However, because of his prior record, Green was sentenced as a third felony offender, which doubles the maximum allowable sentence to up to 40 years, Schuette said.

An investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security revealed Green had been running an online “escort” operation that was actually a prostitution front since 2006. The government said Green prostituted and assaulted two young victims in particular — on of them for six years.

He also transported or arranged for transportation of the young victims to Detroit-area hotel, then forced them to give him the money they received from their acts of prostitution, the government said.

Green was arrested by Schuette’s Human Trafficking Unit in June 2015.
