Police: Estranged Couple Dead in Dearborn Murder-Suicide

Police say a 27-year-old woman was shot by her husband, who then killed himself, while they were exchanging children for scheduled visit.

Dearborn police said Monday that a woman was shot to death by her estranged husband, who then turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder suicide Sunday morning.

The incident unfolded at about 11 a.m. in the 7500 block of Indiana, the Dearborn Police Department said in a news release.

A witness told police that the 29-year-old woman went to the home to exchange children for a schedule visitation with their father, 40, of Dearborn, reportedly got into the parked car. The two spoke briefly before he pulled a gun from his waistband, shot her and then committed suicide, according to the release..

The names of the victims have not been released.

“These types of domestic situations are tragic and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of those involved,” Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in the news release. “In times like these we count on our community to rally around the family and help them with the healing process.”
