Police Search For Man In Burglary At Dearborn Home

Police are trying to identify a man wanted in connection with a Monday night home burglary in Dearborn.

DEARBORN, MI — Police are trying to identify a man wanted in connection with a Monday night home burglary in Dearborn.

Police said the man approached the front door of a home in the 7600 block of Barrie at 8 p.m. when he rang the doorbell and tried to open the locked front door after receiving no answer.

The man then went into the home through an unsecured window and stole multiple items from inside the home, according to police.

Nearby surveillance video caught the man running away from the home through neighboring backyards, according to police.

Investigators believe the man may be connected to a string of breaking-and-entering incidents in other parts of the country, using a similar method.

"Our residents have a right to feel safe and secure in their homes, and this brazen act violates that right. We are working with our State and Federal partners to identify and apprehend this individual and ask the community to please reach out with any information that can help us bring them to justice," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said.
