School Supply Drive in Dearborn Begins July 9

Big Family of Michigan is collecting supplies at several locations throughout southeast Michigan.

In an effort to ensure that no child goes back to school without adequate supplies, Big Family of Michigan is hosting a supply collection drive in several cities throughout southeast Michigan–including Dearborn.

The supply drive will run July 9-22.

According to Big Family, the organization is dedicated to "helping to make life better for children waiting to be adopted, or in at-risk situations."

One such program ensures that children are given the necessary school supplies to be successful in their studies. Over 2,600 children will receive school supplies to start off the school year. Supplies will also be available to them throughout the entire year.

Oakland Regional Hospital, along with Oakland Regional Macomb Center and Michigan Surgery Specialists physician offices, will collect school supplies to support this important Big Family program.

The Supply Drive is open to the public. Residents are asked to drop off new school supplies for children of all ages. Requested items include writing utensils, erasers, pocket folders, calculators, protractors, compasses, rulers, crayons, 3-ring binders, handheld pencil sharpeners, notebooks, ruled filler paper, scissors and glue.
