Small Business Saturday on Steroids in Dearborn

Dearborn merchants are offering a something akin to Small Business Saturday on steroids this year.

The discounts and prizes start on Saturday, Nov. 28, but continue through Saturday, Dec. 12.

The Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce and the East and West Dearborn Downtown Development Authorities, have assembled a wide selection of retailers and restaurants to join in a promotion that features in-store deals, prize chances for shopping at local retailers and lots of fun selfie opportunities.

Shoppers are encouraged to pick up a Small Business Saturday Passport at more than 25 participating locations and get their passport stamped at as many sites as possible starting throughout the two-week promotion.

For every stamp received, customers are then entered to win prizes provided by participating businesses.

Customers will also be encouraged to show their pride of shopping local by taking a #ShopSmall #Dearborn Selfie while shopping at local stores and restaurants and sharing it on social media.

“Our collaborative effort is helping to build awareness and drive sales to our local businesses,” Chamber President Jackie Lovejoy said in a statement. “We have a great selection of established shops and restaurants, as well as new businesses that will be participating in our Small Business Saturday Passport and #ShopSmall Selfie Promotion in town.”

Shoppers can pick up a passport at any of the participating businesses or download the passport at www.dearbornwestonline.com.

Passports must be turned in by Saturday, Dec. 12, at one of three passport drop-off boxes located at:

Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave. at Mercury Drive; Green Brain Comics, 13936 Michigan Ave. in East Downtown Dearborn; or

Village Picture Frame & Art Gallery, 22191 Michigan Ave. in West Downtown Dearborn.
