Toddler Finds Glass in Wendy’s Hamburger: Report
Restaurant owners say the glass was from a light bulb that was broken during a maintenance operation.
Southgate, MI — A toddler whose mom took her to a Wendy’s restaurant in Southgate to celebrate a good visit to the dentist’s office is recovering after finding shards of glass in her hamburger — likely the result of a light bulb that was broken during a maintenance operation, the fast-food franchise restaurant’s owners said.
A local woman told WXYZ-TV that she heard the glass crunching in her 3-year-old daughter’s mouth after she bit into the burger.
The “super-loud crunch … wasn’t normal,” the child’s mother said, adding that she cautioned her crying daughter against swallowing as she tried to get the food out of her mouth.

“As I was pulling her food out, I was pulling food out and blood out and I saw particles of glass on my fingers,” the woman told the TV station.

“This is an extremely unfortunate accident and we quickly investigated,” the owners said. “It appears a light bulb may have broken during maintenance activity in the restaurant.”
The toddler was treated at a local hospital and is recovering at home, according to a report.
