Toddler Wanders Away, Nearly Drowns in Neighbor's Pool
A 2-year-old child who climbed into a neighbor's pool is in critical condition after she and brother wandered away as parents slept: Police.

DEARBORN, MI – A 2-year-old is in critical condition at a local hospital after climbing into a neighbor's swimming pool as his parents slept about 10:25 a.m. Friday, Dearborn police said.
The homeowner who found the child and a police officer who responded to the call were performing CPR when the Dearborn rescue squad arrived and rushed the toddler to a local hospital, according to a news release.
Dearborn police said a preliminary investigation shows the girl and her 3-year-old brother wandered to the neighbor's home, located on the 2600 block of Boldt, while their parents were sleeping

"They both managed to climb the chain link fence which allowed them access to the neighbor’s yard," police said in the news release. "It appears the 2-year old victim was able to climb the pool ladder and into the pool."
The homeowner looked out and saw the toddler in her pool and immediately pulled her out and began administering CPR, police said.

The 3-year old child was uninjured in this incident.
The investigation is active and ongoing, but in the preliminary stages, police said.
“This is a tragic situation for all the families involved," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in the news release. " The Dearborn Police Department asks that you respect the family’s privacy while they tend to their daughter’s needs and we pray for a full recovery.”
